Words are Powerful - Card

Hello friends
These days I am getting time to do some craft only on weekends as exams are going on for my elder son and school projects for the younger one. So this weekend I created this inspirational steampunk card for Simon Says Monday Challenge.

The gears in the card depicts the process of words while the sentiment says to choose them wisely as the words have power to heal or to destroy.

To create the background of this card I used my Buncho poster colours as they were handy on my table for my son's project. I used Ocher Yellow and Prussian blue. For stamping the gears in the background I used the cap of one poster colour only which was just looking like gear.

For the popped gears I used blue cardstock and fussy cut the gears. I tried to bleach them few places to fade blue colour. After that I tinted again it with prussian blue used in background and distressed the edges with black colour.

I tried to add 'words in process' on gears with my mini alphabet rubber stamps. But they are not much visible. I splashed white acrylic colour on gears and adhere on card with foam tape to pop out.

For sentiment I stamped 'words' directly on background and 'are powerful' freehand on black cardstock with acrylic colour. Then added choose them wisely freehand with black pen.

I completed the card by pasting it on black cardstock. Here is one more view of final card.

I enter my card in following challanges

Mix media Book Cover

Hello everyone !

Today I have a mix media project that I made inspired by the September challenge at More Than Words - Book and Book Paper

I made a mix media project for my sister who is a fashion designer and runs her own boutique. She loves reading books though she is always surrounded by the fashion magazines and style books in her boutique. But her record book cover is plain and she was always willing to have an artistic look for her record book. So here I have given a try to make one.

My sister likes the vintage effect so I started with a cutting of brown paper bag for the base and layers of torn newspaper as I dont like to cut any of my books. On the newspaper I added little bit of colours and lots of stancelling with black ink on it. To relate it with her job I cut out a mannequin out of cardboard and covered it with newspaper again. I distressed the edges of both mannequin and background papers.

Then I embillished it with crochet flowers, laces, buttons, paper flowers and a reel of black thread also. After googling for boutique quotes I liked this one very much and I copied it in same style writing it on black paper with white acrylic colour. I framed the quote with lace.

I added some sewing stitches also in the background while compiling everything together. I added a bow of old cloth and a  hanger on mannequin and black cords in background.

Here are more views of the final book cover

Blue Butterflies - First Embossing Attempt

Hello my Crafty Friends!

Today I have a card where I have tried embossing for the first time and it wasn't a success in first attempt. The hand lettering was a big failure.
Still I didnt discard my card in trash. I completed it and here it is for display.

I stamped the butterflies and colour them with my favorite watercolours. The sentiment I wrote freehand with VersaMarker watercolour pen and tried to emboss where the powder didnt get melted and I removed it in my nervousness. I wrote it again with black marker. Embossing was same in butterflies too. But with all my courage I tried again on butterflies and this time I was happy with the result. And learnt a lesson that sentiments in small size might not be possible to emboss without stamping.

I adhere my base card sheet on blue card stock and again on white cardstock to finish it.

I know it's not a perfect card still want to enter my card in few Challenges :

(birthday card, blue color, emboss)

Thanks for visiting. Hugs Priyanka

Colorful yet Simple - B'day Card

Hello Crafty Friends
Have a great start of the Week!

Today I have another colourful creation. It's a birthday card. Have a look on the card before I start talking about it.

The image of the card is itself depicting so much about it. I have used watercolours to create colourful background. Then I doodled with my few of clear stamps on other paper. I drew the butterfly on extra paper and cut it to use as stencil. And I traced it on stamped paper. I kept reducing the size of stencil to make butterfly of different sizes. I fussy cut them and arranged the butterflies on background.

I added extra lines and few numbers and text and shapes to highlight the doodling on butterflies.
In the background also I added inspiration texts and bar codes with freehand doodling.
I finished the card by adding a handwritten sentiment on black paper at the top corner of card.
Here are few more clicks of the card:
Hope you like this colorful yet simple card. I want to play along with:

You Can Do It - Bookmark

Hello and Happy Sunday Crafty Friends!

Today I have a colourful bookmark made on watercolour paper.

For creating background I have used distressed inks from Ranger in watercolour style on a mandala stencil from Little Birdie which gave just impression of stencil. Then I used my Camlin brush pens  for doodling (lines, small circles, script) and detailing of mandala half circle on dried background. I added the sentiment in hand lettering with black brush pen only. Here is the completed bookmark with supplies :
