Halloween Lanterns

Hello everyone,

This is the weekend craft by Viyaan. He wanted to try something other than card making. Luckily I had two empty jars of jam in my stash and I gave him to decorate it. He decided to make lanterns out of it which he saw in some YouTube video. Saumitra also joined him to do one lantern. Here are the lanterns:

He just explained me what he wants to do and I was there to give him the correct craft supply for it. I gave them some acrylic colours and the sponges to cover the bottle.
Viyaan did yellow colour on jar while Saumitra did blue colour. Viyaan wanted to have Batman on jar, but Saumitra chose moon and stars. I gave them black paper for Batman and Moon cutout. Saumitra punched out the star with star punch from my mini punches set. Viyaan tried to add little gold sparkle also on the jar...but he realised it wasnt a good idea and dropped the idea. They adhere the cutouts on jars
..and it's done.

It was an easy and fun craft for kids. Here are some clicks of them

Actually there was no plan to make it on Halloween theme. It was random selection of images. But when I put the jars together and lit the light, first thing I could think of was Halloween. So now the lanterns are named as Halloween Lanterns. And kids are really happy with it that by chance it happened.

Beach Card - Saumitra

Welcome back!

Here is the another card of the day by Saumitra. This is a beach card and is a simple one in contrast. It is completely hand drawn with pencil colours. For the sentiment he used clear stamp from my stash and decorated it with some shiny stones. Here is his card:

My kids are loving using my craft things here and there though they are still not very confident for it. Thanks Simonsays Challenge for giving the kids that opportunity to explore the creativity.

Owl Card - Saumitra

Hello friends !
Happy weekend. I have two more cards today made by Saumitra. This is the first one in which he tried to created watercolour background with watercolour pencils...which wasnt a great idea. Then he tried to stamp the owls from my clear stamps collection where there were 3 owls sitting on a branch.
He stamped it 2 times to make it 4 owls....papa, mumma and two brothers. Lols.

He used one sentiment from same clear stamp set and another from other set. He wasnt much happy with it. He tried to draw some mandala art on corners of the card.
So much creativity in one card....hahaha.

Stamping Fun - Eggs

Welcome back!

This is Viyaan' second stamping card which is more colourful as he wanted. For the stamp I drew few lines and patterns on half oval potato and Viyaan pricked out it with the sharp point of bamboo stick and it was giving perfect look of an egg.

For making it colourful he directly put the multiple colours (poster colours) on potato egg stamp with the help of brush and stamped it on card. He played with colours and tried different combinations of colours in further stamping.

He was again super excited to use my sparkle collection..this time he chose golden colour for all the eggs.
Here are the few clicks while he enjoyed making it.

Here is the look of completed card with the hand written sentiment.

Stamping Fun - Watermelon

 Hi and welcome,

Yesterday my younger son Viyaan wanted to try stamping and I didn't mind sharing my wooden and clear stamps. But he said he wanted to make something big and more colourful directly with stamps.

So idea was to make stamping more fun and kids friendly. I gave him an instant potato stamp of watermelon and this is what he created.

He fully enjoyed stamping watermelon slice all over the paper with his own poster colour. Then he added the green colour for peel with brush directly and the tiny seeds with black marker. He was so excited to add the sparkle dust in watermelon. Here are the looks of his completed watermelon card -

Brighter Side

Hello and welcome!
Today I have a pretty sunflowers card made with minimal art supplies. And I am just madly in love with this card. The outcome is just awesome.

I love drawing the images by my own and I started with drawing sunflower but somehow I wasnt happy with it. So decided to give a try it with freehand brush strokes of my watercolour cakes. And I was satisfied with first one. I made two flowers to complete the bunch look with some leaves around. I added all the details of flowers and leaves carefully after doing layers of colouring. I fussy cut the flower bunch.

For the background I smooshed black colour with lots of water leaving one corner more white for sentiment. I sprayed green colour with brush on the background.
For the sentiment I hand lettered it directly on background. I used calligraphy pens from Artline. 1.0 tip for smaller text and 3.0 tip for larger one.

I placed the background on base card and popped my sunflower bunch on it. I added little more interest in background with my honeycomb stencil. For it I used bundled sage distress ink from Rangers but seems my dabber wasnt clean and gave a different shade. I finished my card by adding few green rhinestones. Here is a closer look of sunflowers
